Social Services Administrator

Location: Mayetta, KS
Department: Behavioral Health / Psychiatry

Are you an experienced masters level social worker looking to make a difference in a Native American community?  The Social Services Administrator is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Social Services Department for the Prairie Band Potawatmi Nation in Mayetta, KS. This includes the Child and Family Services, Vocational Rehabilitation Program, Tribal Victim Services, Prevention Services, Child Support Services, and Adult Services. The Administrator should have a background in culturally relevant practice, administrative experience, policy development and revision experience, a willingness to meet with community members and work with community issues relevant to them, grant writing, program development, grant managing/reporting, and budget development/reporting/monitoring. Establishes and maintains relationships with outside agencies including Kansas SRS and BIA, etc.


  • Provides overall leadership and management for Social Services Staff and Program Services.
  • Formulate budgets in compliance with Social Services goals.
  • Reviews and evaluates employee performance.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and assess programs for results, objectives, and program needs.
  • Directs program and/or department planning and development.
  • Develops and administers grants and/or contract with staff, federal, state and private agencies.
  • Prepares and submits quarterly and annual program reports.
  • Negotiates and formalizes agreements between child welfare, local state and tribal agencies.
  • Attends and participates in meetings with state, federal, local, tribal and private agencies.
  • Conducts and participates in conferences/seminars related to funding sources.
  • Assists in establishing and assurance compliance with program policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the cooperation and collaboration of all social services programs to assure that the highest level of services is provided to the community.
  • Conducts regular and structured meetings with staff.
  • Attends Directorís meetings.
  • Works cooperatively with Tribal Court and attends Tribal Court sessions related to program client issues.
  • Meets with community members as requested to answer questions and listen to community concerns.
  • Conducts community forums and informational meetings as necessary and requested by General Manager, Tribal Council, or General Council.
  • Ensures grant compliance including meeting goals and objectives as well as the proper financial fiscal management of grants. Familiar with or willing to become familiar with ICWA as well as various federal and state grants. Provides indirect supervision of eleven employees.
  • Directly supervises ten employees, which includes but is not limited to: assigning and reviewing work, instructing, training, establishing schedule, setting objectives, recommending hiring and disciplinary action.
  • Works cooperatively within the office, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, and other agencies; as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Masterís degree in Social Work or Business Administration, preferably LCSW or LMSW.
  • Two to five years of Social Work experience.
  • Two to five years of supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Valid Kansas driverís license, must be insurable with the Nationís insurance.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess professional work ethics, manner, and appearance.
  • Must demonstrate maturity, dependability, judgment and empathy.
  • Must possess the ability to operate general office equipment, including but not limited to: 10-key calculator, telephone, computer and operating systems, computer software programs (Microsoft Office programs), fax/copier machine.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the position.


  • Masterís degree in Social Work.
  • Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW).
  • Five to eight years of Social Work experience.
  • Five to eight years of supervisory experience.
